Ein Abgesang auf „Catenaccio“ …

Seit jeher sind italienische Fußballmannschaften für ihren Hang zu einem Spiel mit defensivem Fokus und taktischer Disziplin berühmt-berüchtigt. Jahrzehntelang dominierten Teams aus der Serie A so den europäischen Vereinsfußball.

Mittlerweile liegt der letzte Champions-League-Triumph eines italienischen Klubs jedoch 15 Jahre zurück. 2010 schlug Inter Mailand die Bayern im Endspiel mit 2:0.

[–>Am Dienstag (21 Uhr) kommt es zur Wiederauflage dieses Duells, dieses Mal allerdings im Viertelfinal-Hinspiel der Königsklasse. Nun heizt Bayern-Ikone Philipp Lahm (41) das Aufeinandertreffen noch einmal an – er rechnet mit dem italienischen Fußball ab!

In seiner Kolumne für die englische Zeitung „The Guardian“ schreibt der Weltmeister von 2014, dass das italienische Spiel nicht mehr zeitgemäß sei.

Lahm: „Auf dem Spielfeld fehlt es an Initiative, Engagement und Athletik. Italien gibt viel weniger aus als die vier anderen Top-Ligen in Spanien, England, Frankreich und Deutschland. Die Spieler rennen weniger.“

Und weiter: „Ich habe vor ein paar Jahren eine Statistik gelesen, die besagt, dass die Bundesligamannschaft mit den niedrigsten Werten mehr gelaufen ist als die Mannschaft mit den höchsten Werten in der Serie A. Italien hat sein Betriebssystem nicht aktualisiert; es arbeitet zu langsam.“

Um seinen Punkt zu verdeutlichen, bemüht Lahm einen Vergleich, der wohl jedem Italiener so richtig wehtun dürfte: Der Fußball ähnele einem lahmenden Ferrari!

Der Ex-Profi: „Die italienischen Teams von heute erinnern mich an einen Ferrari, der mit halbvollem Tank auf 200 PS gedrosselt wurde und dem 10 Runden vor dem Ziel der Sprit ausgeht. Da hilft auch das schönste Design nicht mehr.“

Der einstige Weltklasse-Verteidiger rät den Italienern, sich bei Atlético Madrid und Trainer Diego Simeone (54) inspirieren zu lassen. Dabei beruft er sich auch auf seine eigene Vergangenheit. 2016 scheiterten die Bayern im Königsklassen-Halbfinale an den Spaniern.

Lahm: „Es muss etwas hinzukommen: Kraft bei Ballgewinn, Aktivität bei Ballbesitz, unbändiger Eroberungs- und Angriffswille, der Stil von Simeone. Von der Leidenschaft dieses argentinischen Trainers kann man eine Menge lernen. Eigentlich müsste ganz Italien so spielen wie Atlético.“

Neben der fehlenden spielerischen Entwicklung sieht Lahm im italienischen Fußball auch Probleme abseits des Platzes. So sei durch viele Klub-Verkäufe an ausländische Investoren „offenbar Identität und Bedeutung verloren gegangen“.

Auch die veralteten Stadien seien dafür ein Beispiel. Bayern-Gegner Inter plant etwa eine Modernisierung oder sogar einen Abriss des legendären San Siros, in dem für die Münchner am kommenden Mittwoch (16. April, 21 Uhr) das Viertelfinal-Rückspiel ansteht.
