Gladbach auf Europa-Kurs! Ein Star verrät nun spannende Gründe für den Höhenflug…
Borussia greift in dieser Saison plötzlich die Liga-Spitze an. Der Fast-Absteiger aus der vergangenen Saison (nur Platz 14) steht aktuell auf Europa-League-Platz 6, mit nur zwei Punkten Rückstand ist sogar die Qualifikation für die Champions League drin. Der Glaube, dass es am Ende der Saison wirklich klappt mit Europa wächst auch unter den Stars.

► Super-Abwehr! Reitz: „Der Hauptaspekt ist für mich die Defensive. Wir sind viel stabiler geworden. Eine 1:0-Führung wie zuletzt gegen Leipzig hätten wir vergangene Saison womöglich nicht in einen Sieg verwandelt. Dieser Wille, zu hundert Prozent das Tor zu verteidigen, ist in uns allen gewachsen.“
► Mehr Effizienz! Reitz: „Natürlich sind wir auch in der Chancenverwertung besser geworden, da spielt Tim Kleindienst mit seinen Toren und seiner Präsenz eine wichtige Rolle.“

► Festhalten an Trainer Gerardo Seoane (46)! Reitz: „Wichtig war in meinen Augen auch, dass man uns allen die Zeit gegeben hat. Der Fußball ist so schnelllebig geworden, dass viele Dinge schon nach kurzer Zeit infrage gestellt werden, wenn es mal nicht gut läuft. Gerardo Seoane und wir haben dagegen die Möglichkeit bekommen, uns immer besser kennenzulernen und Routinen entwickeln zu können, das zahlt sich jetzt aus.“
► Härtere Strafen! Der Gladbach-Kassenwart: „Wir haben den Strafenkatalog dieser Saison noch einmal angezogen, ich arbeite viel mit Excel-Tabellen, muss die Strafen eintreiben. Es wird vor allem auf Pünktlichkeit geachtet. Nicht nur beim Training, auch bei Physio- oder Arztterminen. Die Ärzte richten ihren Tag nach uns aus. Wer diese Termine nicht einhält, dem darf es auch mal wehtun.“
