Beim Viertelfinale zwischen Tango Bourges Basket aus Frankreich und dem türkischen Vertreter CBK Mersin beim „Final Six“-Turnier in Saragossa/Spanien kam es am Mittwoch zu einem Skandal. Nach einer Rangelei mit den Schiedsrichtern wurde Mersin-Präsident Serdar Cevirgen und mindestens ein weiteres Mitglied der Delegation von der Polizei mitten im Spiel zweimal (!) abgeführt und aus der Halle geleitet!
Laut Polizei-Bericht habe sich Cevirgen dabei laut dem Portal „Heraldo.es“ mit fünf Polizisten angelegt und dabei „seine enorme Größe und körperliche Stärke“ eingesetzt.

Der erste Eklat in der 15. Minute: Cevirgen war sauer darüber, dass die Schiris ein „Technisches Foul“ gegen seinen Trainer Ahmet Kandemir verhängten und stürme wutentbrannt aufs Parkett. Es folgte eine hitzige Diskussion und eine Rangelei mit den Unparteiischen. Das Spiel konnte rund fünf Minuten nicht weitergehen.
Der zweite Eklat nach der Halbzeit: Obwohl ihn die spanische Polizei aus dem Pabellon Principe Felipe verwiesen hatte, kehrt Cevirgen auf seinen Tribünen-Platz zurück. Die Beamten geleiteten den Funktionär daraufhin unter dem Jubel der Fans ein zweites Mal nach draußen.

In den Katakomben habe Cevirgen laut „El Periodico de Aragon“ dann die Polizisten angegriffen. Dem Sicherheits-Koordinator der Halle verpasste er eine Ohrfeige, bei der dessen Brille vom Kopf flog. Daraufhin wurde der tobende Funktionär festgenommen. Cevirgen wurde in eine Zelle gesperrt und musste dort die Nacht verbringen. Ihm drohe nun ein Prozess wegen Körperverletzung gegen eine Autoritätsperson ohne Zufügung von Körperverletzung. Wahrscheinlich ist, dass Cevirgen zu einer Geldstrafe verdonnert wird und Hausverbot erhält. Dazu kommt eine mögliche Strafe der Liga.
Mersin gewann auch ohne ihren Boss mit 66:59 und zog ins Halbfinale ein. Gegner ist am Freitag Valencia mit der deutschen Nationalspielerin WNBA-Championesse Leonie Fiebich (25). Im zweiten Halbfinale trifft Prag/Tschechien auf Fenerbahce Istanbul mit der Berlinerin Nyara Sabally (25), die gemeinsam mit Fiebich mit New York Liberty den NBA-Titel gewann.
