After weeks of rumors about a tense relationship between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, a source close to the couple revealed to “In Touch” that the former couple is making efforts to improve their dynamic. Although their marriage officially ended in January 2025, just three months after the divorce, both are seeking to reunite on good terms, especially because of the bond that exists between their children.
“Let’s be honest, Ben will never be as close to JLo as he is to Jennifer Garner, because they don’t share three kids,” the source confessed, referring to Violet, Seraphina “Fin” and Samuel, the result of Affleck’s marriage to Garner. However, the Bronx Diva’s twins Max and Emme, with Marc Anthony, have formed a very close bond with the actor’s children.

According to the same source, Emme and Fin share an “especially strong” connection. That’s why Ben and Jennifer have agreed that they have a responsibility to “nurture” that relationship for the sake of their children. “If they can’t stand each other or can’t be in the same room, that becomes very complicated,” he explained. “So they’ve decided to do whatever it takes to get along better.”
Although they are not yet planning a family vacation together, the couple has considered having at least a group dinner as a first step. “They are not ready for joint trips with the children, but they have talked about a nice dinner all together to start with, and from there see what happens,” the source added.

This comes amid rumors of a rapprochement between Ben and Jennifer Garner, the mother of his children, with whom he maintains a cordial relationship. In March, they were seen hugging during a paintball outing with their son Samuel.
However, a source clarified to the New York Post that neither Garner nor JLo intend to resume a romantic relationship with the actor.Affleck spoke for the first time about his divorce in the April issue of GQ, where he explained that his breakup with Jennifer was not due to a specific conflict.
“There was no big breakup. The truth is much more everyday than people would imagine,” he stated. “It’s just the story of two people trying to find their way in life and in their relationships, like we all do.”
