Die HBW Balingen-Weilstetten begeistert beim Lidl Final4 in Köln die 20.000 Fans in der Lanxess Arena, gewinnt im kleinen Finale sensationell gegen Erstliga-Topteam Rhein-Neckar Löwen 32:31.

Die Gallier von der Alb verzaubern Handball-Deutschland!

Schon im Halbfinale am Samstag gegen den Erstliga-Zweiten MT Melsungen staunten die Zuschauer in der Halle und am Stream bei Dyn. Der Zweitliga-Vierte führte fast die gesamte erste Hälfte gegen den Meisterkandidaten, gab nie auf und verlor am Ende nur knapp 27:31.

Überragend in beiden Spielen die Balinger Fans, die die eh schon heiße Atmosphäre beim Handball-Highlight des Jahres nochmal bereicherten, eine Handball-Party in Blau feierten. Davon ließen sich die anderen Zuschauer anstecken, so dass in beiden Spielen fast die gesamte Arena den Zweitligisten anfeuerte.

„Wir haben von den Fans zurückbekommen, was Mannschaft und Verein investiert haben“, sagte Balingens Sport-Geschäftsführer Axel Kromer. „Das Wochenende ist ein once-in-a-lifetime-Erlebnis für die Fans mit unserem Top-Auftritt auf der Platte, dem Fanmarsch, dem Partyboot – und es war undankbar für die MT, denn auch die neutralen Fans haben Stimmung für uns gemacht, weil wir der Underdog waren.“

So läuft es auch gegen die Löwen, denen außerdem der Vortag in den Knochen steckt. Beim ultra-spannenden 31:32 nach Verlängerung im ersten Halbfinale gegen den THW Kiel waren die Mannheimer über ihre Grenzen gegangen, das Energie-Level der Balinger können sie dann lange nicht matchen. Mit 15:19 geht es in die Halbzeit, nach 40 Minuten führt der Außenseiter sogar mit 24:18.

Auch die Verletzung von Top-Torjäger Ivan Martinovic ist in den Köpfen. Der Linkshänder hat sich gegen Kiel wohl schwer am Knie verletzt, sagt zu SPORT BILD: „Es ist schon etwas besser, ich kann das Knie wieder etwas beugen. Sascha (Physiotherapeut Sascha Pander, d.Red.) meinte, es wäre wohl wieder die Patellasehne oder der Meniskus.“

[–>Das Frust-Potenzial der Löwen zeigt sich in der ersten Auszeit, die Trainer Sebastian Hinze nimmt (13.). Star-Spielmacher Juri Knorr ruft in den Kreis: „Hey, die verarschen uns!“ Hinze beschwichtigt: „Ja, aber was soll ich machen gegen die Schiedsrichter? Kein Wort mehr gegen die Schiedsrichter. Ich mach’ das jetzt.“ Gesagt, getan: In der nächsten Aktion kassiert der Coach Gelb wegen Meckerns.

In der Schlussphase geht den Galliern erstmal der Zaubertrank ein wenig aus, die Fehler (und Zwei-Minuten-Strafen) häufen sich, Löwen-Kapitän Patrick Groetzki sorgt mit zwei Treffern in Folge beim 25:24 für die erste Führung (49.).

Kurz danach stockt den Zuschauern in der Arena der Atem: Balingen nimmt in Unterzahl den Torwart raus, trifft durch Heinzelmann zum 25:26 (51.). Torhüter Benedek Nagy (23) sprintet von der Bank zurück in den Kasten, fischt den Wurf von Olle Forsell Schefvert überragend per Hechtsprung von der Linie, rutscht aber den unkontrolliert und ungebremst mit dem Kopf gegen den Torpfosten.

Betreuer und Sanitäter eilen sofort zum Ungarn, in der Halle ist es kurz komplett still, auch eine Trage wird gebracht. Die wird zum Glück nicht gebraucht, Nagy verlässt auf den Beinen die Halle – mit einem dicken Eisbeutel im Nacken und unter tosendem Applaus der gesamten Arena.

Das Spiel bleibt ein Krimi, der Zweitligist knickt nie ein, geht durch Heinzelmann beim 30:29 wieder in Führung (55.). Jerome Müller trifft 28 Sekunden vor Schluss zum 32:30, die Halle bebt, Balingen wird tatsächlich Dritter, sichert sich 120.000 Euro Prämie, den Löwen bleiben 90.000 Euro.
