Hamann erinnert die Brandt-Lage an eine Situation von früher. Der ehemalige Nationalspieler (59 Länderspiele für Deutschland): „Ich habe mal vor 30 Jahren in Stuttgart gespielt, da hat der Kahn den Herzog mal durchgeschüttelt, wo der Andi gar nichts dafür konnte. Mich wundert’s, dass da nicht mal einer von der Mannschaft hingeht – auch auf dem Feld, wenn so etwas passiert – und sagt: ‘Willst du uns nicht mal helfen?’“

In dieser Bundesliga-Saison absolvierte Brandt bisher 25 Partien für den BVB, erzielte dabei drei Tore. Zum Vergleich: In der vergangenen Saison waren es zum gleichen Zeitpunkt sechs Treffer. Allerdings bereitete er in seinen bisherigen 39 Pflichtspielen in dieser Saison bisher elf Tore vor. Trainer Kovac zuletzt über Brandt: „Ich weiß, was er kann.“
