No parece que Aston Martin vaya a ofrecer grandes novedades en el AMR-25 de Fernando Alonso y Lance Stroll de cara al Circuito Urbano de Jeddah. “Tenemos que ser cuidadosos. Hay más limitaciones financieras y también de recursos dado que hay un gran cambio de reglas”, contó Mike Krack, una de las figuras principales en la estructura británica. Aparecerán, pero cuando exista la seguridad en las mismas. Por lo menos, el asturiano sí que tendrá alguna revolución simbólica en Arabia Saudí.
Alonso, que ya está en territorio árabe, presentó al mundo su nuevo diseño de casco para la cita. Era un concurso lanzado de la mano de Aramco, el principal patrocinador de Aston Martin. El asturiano cambiará por segunda vez, tras el Gran Premio de China, el diseño y llegará un color rompedor: el verde.
Mantiene sus señas de identidad, pero la artista saudí ganadora añade otros tonos al casco de Alonso. El verde en la parte de arriba, ondas de diferentes azules en la parte central y se mantiene un amarillo habitual en la parte baja. Saldrá de sus colores principales habituales y también de la opción blanca que mostró en Shanghái.
A pesar de tener una seña de identidad muy marcada en sus cascos, Fernando Alonso también es uno de los pilotos que más ha jugado con sus cascos. Desde aquella revolución del plateado cuando se estrenó con McLaren, al rediseño con el que compitió su última etapa en la F1 y aterrizó en la Indy500 o el Dakar, incluso el rosa en Alpine dado un patrocinador principal del equipo francés -BWT-.
En lo deportivo, Alonso tratará de romper la mala racha de resultados en un circuito que no le debería venir del todo mal. Los secretos estarán en las curvas rápidas y la cercanía a los muros, algo que hace de las manos un secreto claro para rendir en Jeddah. El nuevo casco puede darle suerte.
