‘El método Orozco’: su radical cambio tras pesar 127 kilos

Este pasado viernes llegó a Prime Video ‘El método Orozco‘, un documental íntimo que retrata el proceso de transformación de Antonio Orozco, desde una profunda crisis emocional hasta la creación del que él considera el mejor disco de su carrera.

La historia arranca en el cierre de su última gira, a finales de 2023, cuando Orozco decide retirarse temporalmente para centrarse en su bienestar. “¿Cuánto hace que no duermo sin tomarme una pastilla?”, se pregunta al inicio del documental, marcando el comienzo de un viaje de sanación.

La seria advertencia que lanzaron los médicos a Orozco

Con un peso de 127 kilos, los médicos le lanzaron una advertencia tajante: “Con tu edad y tu peso, pueden pasarte cinco cosas… y ninguna buena”. Aquello marcó un antes y un después. Su cuerpo y su mente estaban pidiendo auxilio, y Orozco lo escuchó.

El documental muestra cómo, tras años de encadenar giras y proyectos, su salud mental se resintió seriamente. El propio Orozco admite que no era consciente de estar atravesando una depresión. Había reprimido el dolor por la muerte de seres muy cercanos, como la madre de su hijo Jan o su propio padre, volcando toda su energía en el trabajo. “Nunca le he visto tan mal”, recuerda su madre.

Los tres pilares para su recuperación física y mental

Uno de los testimonios clave en la producción es el de su médico, Javier Tapias, quien explica cómo se estructuró la recuperación del artista. “Trabajamos sobre tres pilares: una vía centrada en cuidar muy al detalle su alimentación, otra en el ejercicio físico, y por último cerrar el círculo con un seguimiento psicológico”.

Ha llegado a hacer ayuno 17 horas y 30 minutos

Orozco aporta su propia visión de ese proceso: “En un día remoto como hoy, hubiese cenado, me hubiese levantado a medianoche con ganas de comer, me hubiese tomado cualquier cosa con azúcar. Un día normal”. Ahora, como parte de su tratamiento, ha llegado a practicar “17 horas y 30 minutos de ayuno”, un cambio radical que refleja su compromiso con su salud.

Más allá del plano físico, el artista se propuso por primera vez enfrentar sus problemas de cara. Y con esa liberación emocional, también renació su proceso creativo. “He tenido mucho miedo a las canciones hasta que escribí estas”, dice convencido, incluso antes de renovar su contrato con Universal Music. Para él, estas nuevas composiciones forman parte del mejor disco de su vida.

A diferencia del tono tenso de otros documentales musicales recientes, como el de Aitana, el ambiente que rodea a Orozco es de confianza y complicidad. “Son canciones en las que comparte sus vulnerabilidades, y eso es muy poderoso, porque todos podemos vernos reflejados”, destaca Alicia Arauzo, codirectora general de Universal.

El nuevo álbum, El tiempo no es oro, se grabó en La Casamurada (Tarragona), con las partes orquestales registradas en los míticos estudios Abbey Road de Londres. El disco se publicará el próximo 25 de abril.

Como anticipo, en noviembre lanzó el sencillo ‘Te juro que no hay un segundo que no piense en ti’, dedicado a su hija Antonella, símbolo de esa nueva etapa de equilibrio emocional.

“Últimamente ha habido noches en las que no he necesitado pastillas para dormir”, confiesa Orozco, satisfecho y esperanzado. Un cierre luminoso para un viaje que empezó en la oscuridad.
