As Draft Day approaches, the suspense surrounding everything Shedeur Sanders represents continues to grow. The former Colorado Buffaloes star, once projected as a top pick earlier this year, has seen his stock plummet. His chances now seem limited to pick No. 9 with the New Orleans Saints or No. 21 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The No. 1 pick in the Draft will be the University of Miami quarterback, Cam Ward. However, he’s not the top-tier prospect many would expect, but being a quarterback has significantly boosted his value, allowing him to beat out Shedeur, who has dropped in the rankings. Still, Shedeur will have one last chance to break into the top 3 of the Draft.
They were stunning! Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have one final workout before the NFL Draft
Shedeur will have a private workout with the New York Giants
The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback is set to have a private workout this coming Thursday in Colorado with a group from the New York Giants, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Since the middle of last season, when Daniel Jones was sidelined for the Giants, it’s been clear the team would be looking for a new quarterback, and Shedeur Sanders has always been part of that conversation. He’s even been spotted at some events alongside Malik Nabers, the team’s star receiver.
Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston are under contract with the Giants
Earlier this year, the rumors were strong, but they quickly faded after the Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston as their new quarterbacks for the upcoming season. That move appeared to shut the door on Shedeur’s chances of landing in the Big Apple.
Additionally, current betting odds indicate that the New York Giants are clear favorites to select the standout Penn State defender, Abdul Carter. However, the Giants will still re-evaluate Shedeur Sanders. The reality is that he won’t be taken in the first round, but if he continues to fall, the team might find him available early in the second round.
To top it off, Giants general manager Joe Schoen made it clear during the NFL’s annual league meetings that they don’t plan to force the selection of a quarterback in the draft. This makes it almost certain that they won’t go for a quarterback in the first round.
