Zatímco kapitánka švédského týmu Kjellbinová hrála za Montreal a nyní má angažmá v Torontu, Savolainenová hájí barvy celku Ottawa Charge.
A už při příchodu do zámoří se Kjellbinová nechala slyšet, že na svoji partnerku nebude brát žádné ohledy. „Nezajímá mě, koho mám před sebou. I když to bude ona, klidně ji sundám. Když hraju, zajímá mě jen zápas. Nemůžete přemýšlet o tom, kdo proti vám jede. Přítelkyně můžeme být až potom, na ledě jsme nepřátelé,“ vysvětlovala dříve Švédka v rozhovoru pro server Ottawa Citizen.
Na mezinárodní scéně už proti sobě nastoupily mnohokrát. „A jsem to většinou já, kdo se vrátí domů jako vítězka. Doufám, že tomu tak bude i nadále,“ smála se Savolainenová.
I ve čtvrtek v Českých Budějovicích by měly být favoritkami Finky, které v silnější skupině A porazily jak domácí Českou republiku, tak Švýcarky a obsadily ve skupině třetí místo za zámořskými velmocemi Kanadou a USA. Švédky ale zase suverénně ovládly skupinu B bez ztráty jediného bodu a se skóre 17:2.
Savolainenová s Kjellbinovou vzbudily jak ve svých zemích, tak v zámoří loni v říjnu poprask, když na sociálních sítích oznámily své zasnoubení. „Jsme spolu už pět let. Bylo na čase z ní udělat svoji snoubenku,“ komentovala životní krok Savolainenová.
