A meaningless regular-season finale might have turned into something very significant for the Dallas Stars, as star forward Jason Robertson left Wednesday night’s 5-1 loss to Nashville with a lower-body injury and didn’t return.
The nature and severity of Robertson’s injury were not immediately known.

“The purpose of resting people down the stretch was to hopefully avoid injury, and unfortunately we didn’t do that with the Robertson injury,” DeBoer told reporters in Nashville. “So, tough night.”
The Stars, among the Stanley Cup favorites, have been locked into second place in the Central Division for several games, and will play the Colorado Avalanche in a marquee first-round matchup starting on Saturday. The Stars head into the postseason on a seven-game losing streak (0-5-2), the worst end to a season in franchise history.
Robertson was Dallas’ second-leading scorer this season, after playing all 82 games and posting 80 points, including a team-high 35 goals.
The Stars are scheduled for an off day on Thursday, so there likely won’t be an official update until Friday, the day before Game 1 against the Avalanche.
