Jennifer Lopez may soon find herself entangled in ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs’s ongoing legal battle, as prosecutors push to reintroduce evidence from a 1999 nightclub shooting in his upcoming sex trafficking trial.
The pop icon, who was arrested but never charged in the incident, is likely to be mentioned in court as the case revisits one of the most controversial episodes in Diddy’s past.

The shooting, which occurred at Club New York in Manhattan, led to the arrests of both Lopez and Combs after gunfire broke out, injuring three patrons.
Police later found a stolen firearm in their vehicle following a chase.
Combs faced gun and bribery charges but was acquitted, while Lopez was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Over two decades later, that night is once again under legal scrutiny.
Combs’s defense team is fighting to keep the 1999 incident, and other past allegations, out of the trial.
In court filings, they argue that introducing such evidence would unfairly prejudice the jury and distract from the current charges.
Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to five federal charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
His legal team contends that the prosecution is attempting to portray him as a lifelong criminal by including uncharged and unrelated incidents, including a notorious video of him allegedly assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016.
The defense also disputes the credibility of a key witness from the nightclub shooting, believed to be Combs’s former driver, who claimed the artist attempted to bribe him with a $50,000 ring.
No such ring was ever recovered, and attorneys argue that the account is implausible.
While Lopez has remained largely silent on the matter, those close to her have spoken out in her defense.
Thea de Sousa, a former colleague, publicly dismissed any notion that the singer was aware of Combs’s alleged criminal activities, describing Lopez as focused, hardworking, and far removed from the lifestyle now under investigation.
Lopez and Combs dated from 1999 to 2001, a relationship the singer later described as “tumultuous.”
As jury selection approaches ahead of the May 12 trial date, a judge is set to rule on whether the Club New York shooting and potentially Lopez’s involvement, will become part of the proceedings.
