O atacante Jonathan Calleri, do São Paulo, rompeu o ligamento cruzado do joelho esquerdo na partida contra o Botafogo, na última quarta-feira, pelo Brasileirão, e será submetido a uma cirurgia na próxima semana. O time paulista não deu previsão para o retorno do argentino, mas esta lesão costuma ter um período de oito a 12 meses de recuperação.
Calleri foi substituído ainda no primeiro tempo do empate do São Paulo por 2 a 2 com o Botafogo, no Nilton Santos. Em disputa com Marlon Freitas, o camisa nove caiu no gramado e, em seguida, pediu atendimento médico e logo pediu substituição.
Nos últimos tempos, nomes importantes do futebol mundial, como Marta, Pedro, do Flamengo, e Neymar, romperam o LCA. Além disso, o atacante Bruno Henrique, do Flamengo, que atualmente está sendo investigado em um caso de apostas esportivas, teve o mesmo problema, em 2022, e ficou cerca de um ano afastado dos gramados.

O tratamento necessário envolve a fisioterapia, exercícios especializados ou cirurgia, a depender da gravidade de cada caso. Nos casos de intervenção cirúrgica, o LCA é reconstruído usando um pedaço de tendão colhido dos músculos da própria pessoa.
O rompimento dos ligamentos do joelho pode afetar não apenas a potência para os arranques, mas também a estabilidade do joelho. Ou seja, quando pisar no chão para arrancar, existe a possibilidade de o jogador não ter a mesma firmeza. Mesmo depois da recuperação dos ligamentos.
