Herbstmeister MT Melsungen hat mit dem umkämpften 26:25 (9:11) gegen den VfL Gummersbach seine Chancen auf den ersten Titelgewinn der Vereinsgeschichte untermauert.

Melsungen hält Handball-Meisterkampf offen
Die Nordhessen haben die Niederlage im Pokalfinale am vergangenen Sonntag gegen den THW Kiel offensichtlich nicht gut verdaut. Gegen den dezimierten VfL Gummersbach hat die MT ihren Personalsorgen mit mehreren angeschlagenen Spielern getrotzt und mit Mühe Platz 2 gefestigt.
Den besseren Start erwischt jedoch Gummersbach, das ohne Julian Köster, Tom Kiesler und Ellidi Vidarsson antritt. Melsungen hat eine mehr als bescheidene Chancenauswertung, scheitert mehrmals völlig frei am starken VfL-Keeper Dominic Kuzmanovic, leistet sich zudem ungewohnt viele Zweikampf-Verluste und liegt nach 14 Minuten 4:7 hinten.
Die Phase vor der Pause ist geprägt von völlig wildem Handball. Es kommen kaum geordnete Angriffe zustande, korrekterweise werden Schrittfehler auf beiden Seiten konsequent gepfiffen, Hektik prägt die Partie. Gummersbach bekommt trotzdem das Kunststück fertig, trotz elf technischer Fehler eine 11:9-Führung mit in die Pause zu schleppen.
[–>Nach dem Wechsel entwickelt sich ein Krimi in der Kasseler Rothenbach-Halle. Nach 43 Minuten hat die MT Melsungen den umjubelten 16:16-Ausgleich geschafft. Dabei helfen die Paraden von Torwart Nebojsa Simic, der mit gebrochenem Finger an der rechten Hand spielt.
Ausgerechnet Simic erwischt es in der 50. Minute, der Montenegriner verletzt sich bei einer Seitwärtsbewegung am linken Knie und humpelt gestützt von der Platte. Da hat seine Mannschaft aber bereits das 20:17 erkämpft.
Den Rest kämpfen die Melsunger mit Adam Morawski statt Simic im Tor nach Hause, obwohl Abwehr-Fachkraft Adrian Sipos auch noch Rot nach Videobeweis sieht (55.).
Frisch Auf Göppingen – THW Kiel 29:36 (14:19)
Bis zum 8:8 (17.) halten die Göppinger mit, danach rauscht der THW-Express davon. Zur Pause ist beim 19:14 für den frisch gebackenen Pokalsieger bereits eine kleine Vorentscheidung gefallen.
Nach der Pause liegen die Kieler teilweise mit zehn Treffern Vorsprung in Führung, sie schaukeln den Auswärtssieg locker nach Hause.
