Weil er zu einer Parade ansetzte, zu der es am Ende überhaupt nicht kam, hat sich einer der besten Torhüter der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga schwer verletzt.
Nach dem umkämpften 26:25 (9:11) der MT Melsungen gegen den VfL Gummersbach hielt sich die Freude der Nordhessen über zwei Punkte in Grenzen. Die Sorgen um Star-Keeper Nebojsa Simic (32) sind zu groß.

Handball-Torwart weint nach Sieg
Es war die 50. Minute, Melsungen hatte gerade das 19:17 erzielt. Im direkten Gegenangriff deutete Gummersbachs Ole Pregler (22) einen Torwurf an, Simic, der seit dem Final4 um den DHB-Pokal mit einem gebrochenem Finger an der rechten Hand spielte, spekulierte auf einen Abschluss ins linke Toreck.
Dabei passierte es. Simic (Spitzname „Simo“) reagierte auf eine Finte von Pregler, als der Montenegriner das erkannt hatte, knickte sein linkes Knie zur Seite weg. Simic spürte sofort die Auswirkung und blieb liegen.
Seine Kollegen Erik Balenciaga und David Mandic riefen sofort Hilfe von der Bank, Mandic schlug dabei die Hände über dem Kopf zusammen. Ein Betreuer und Abwehrchef Adrian Sipos brachten Simic von der Platte, nach dem Schlusspfiff musste er in die Kabine getragen werden.
[–>Am Dienstag steht für Simic eine Magnetresonanztomografie (MRT) auf dem Programm. Einen ersten Schreckensverdacht gibt es bereits jetzt: KREUZBANDRISS, damit wäre die Saison für Melsungens Montenegriner vorzeitig beendet, sogar das ganz restliche Handball-Jahr 2025 stünde dann für ihn infrage.
Freude über zwei Punkte war bei Melsungens Trainer Roberto Parrondo verständlicherweise kaum vorhanden, seine Gedanken gingen an den schwer verletzten Torwart: „Dieser Sieg ist für Simo.“
Sollte sich die Verdachts-Diagnose am Dienstag bestätigen, hätte der ohnehin schon dezimierte Tabellenzweite ein weiteres großes Problem. Denkbar, dass Torwart-Trainer Carsten Lichtlein (44/Weltmeister 2007, Europameister 2016) wie schon beim Final4 in Köln als zweiter Keeper einspringen muss.
