Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is back in the spotlight. On Friday, Jackson posted a now-viral TikTok video that appeared to confirm his new relationship with influencer Shyanne Blankenship.
The post, captioned simply “hard launch,” featured Jackson kissing Blankenship on the cheek before the two lip-synced Lady Gaga’s hit song “Poker Face.”
The announcement quickly gained traction across social media platforms, particularly given Jackson‘s controversial public persona and the timing of the reveal.
Though the pair had not previously confirmed their relationship, fans pointed out that the two were spotted together at a Drake concert last year-suggesting a long-standing friendship that may have quietly turned romantic.
Until recently, Blankenship had kept her Instagram account public and had shared a few photos with Jackson, but not enough to clearly signal a relationship. However, following the buzz around the TikTok post, her account has since gone private-possibly in response to the surge in attention.
A fresh chapter amid a turbulent past
Jackson Mahomes has long been a polarizing figure. While his older brother Patrick has risen to NFL superstardom, leading the Chiefs to multiple Super Bowl victories, Jackson has often been embroiled in controversy-from tone-deaf social media moments to legal troubles.
In 2023, Jackson faced felony charges of aggravated sexual battery stemming from an alleged incident at a Kansas restaurant.
The charges were later dropped after the accuser ceased cooperation with authorities, but the episode left a mark on Jackson‘s already complicated public image.
He’s also drawn widespread criticism for a number of viral missteps, including dancing on the memorial number of late Washington Commanders legend Sean Taylor during a game in 2021-an act viewed as deeply disrespectful by fans and commentators alike. In another infamous incident, he was seen alongside Brittany Mahomes, Patrick‘s wife, spraying champagne onto fans from a suite after the Chiefs‘ playoff win over the Bills in January 2022.
More recently, Jackson raised eyebrows for flirty comments left on an Instagram post by Kayla Nicole, the ex-girlfriend of Travis Kelce, during a media firestorm involving Kelce‘s high-profile relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift. The comment sparked backlash as fans accused Jackson of stirring drama.
