The Atlanta Falcons have another quarterback.
The Falcona signed former Chargers backup Easton Stick on Monday and now have Michael Penix Jr., Kirk Cousins, Emory Jones and Stick at the position. The Stick signing is more notable for its timing than for its expected impact on the field in 2025, though.

The Falcons open the first phase of their offseason program on Tuesday, and coach Raheem Morris said at last month’s league meetings that he doesn’t expect Cousins to attend the voluntary workouts. Cousins, who was signed to a four-year free-agency deal last offseason, has told the Falcons he wants to play elsewhere next season after being replaced by Penix Jr. as the starter.
The 6-foot-1, 224-pound Stick started four games for the Chargers in 2023 and finished that season with 1,129 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He was a fifth-round pick in 2019 out of North Dakota State, where he was 49-3 as a starter.
At the minimum, Stick will provide Atlanta with an arm for offseason practices as long as Cousins is away from the team. If Cousins is eventually released or traded, Stick could compete with Jones for the backup job in Atlanta. The Falcons carried three quarterbacks throughout the 2024 season — Penix and Cousins on the 53-man roster and Nathan Peterman on the practice squad. Stick did not appear in a regular-season game last season.
