It is one of the news stories of the year. Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Pope Francis I, died in the early hours of today, Monday, April 21, after a few months fighting a disease that made it impossible for him to maintain a normal life. In fact, for some time now, the pope has only had one fully functional lung.
Francis has been one of the most transgressive popes of the church, as he will be remembered as one of the pontiffs who has done the most for social causes. The pope of the poor, of the marginalized and, above all, a pope who has done everything possible to clean up those things that could tarnish the Church.

He created an internal research organ for the church
During his papacy, he has focused on various causes, especially social ones, such as his trips to countries with religious tensions, such as Iraq, and rapprochement with the various sections of religion, such as unity with the Orthodox churches, but, above all, his fight for human rights and social justice.
Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the first Jesuit pope and the first of American origin, took on the papacy 12 years ago with the intention of changing certain church practices. During these years, Francis has pursued a number of trends in the church, striving for the investigation of sexual abuse committed by the church over the years, with the creation of an independent body for its investigation, but, above all, he has stood out in his fight in support of migrants, always denouncing the xenophobic and racist practices of certain behaviours towards migrants.

His last appearance was on Easter Sunday, when he addressed St. Peter’s Square and the whole world with the Urbi et Orbi blessing. In his last words, he highlighted a series of sentences that could well define his period at the head of the Catholic Church.
This was stated by Pope Francis in one of his last interventions
In his last message, hours before his death, Francis I said the following: “How much contempt is sometimes shown towards the weakest, the marginalised, the migrants! On this day, I would like us to once again have hope and trust in others, even in those who are not close to us or come from distant lands, with customs, ways of life, ideas and habits different from our own. Because we are all children of God”.
