Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has made it clear that a professional coaching career just doesn’t fit into his current lifestyle. When asked whether the Patriots’ recent coaching shake-up, including the return of former teammate Mike Vrabel as head coach, had sparked any desire to follow suit into the coaching ranks, Gronk didn’t hesitate to shut the door on that idea.
“No, not happening,” Gronkowski said during a Monday interview with TMZ Sports, citing the immense time commitment and pressure that comes with NFL coaching. “That lifestyle is not for me.”

Still, the four-time Super Bowl champion had nothing but praise for his former team’s recent offseason buzz. He specifically applauded the hiring of Vrabel, saying it’s reignited excitement for the Kraft family and the Patriots fan base as the team enters a new chapter.
Gronkowski also gave a shoutout to the team’s most headline-grabbing roster addition – wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who arrived in a blockbuster trade.
“It’s really good for the New England Patriots because they need that number one wide receiver,” he said, noting how Diggs could revitalize an offense that has struggled in recent seasons.
Between Vrabel’s return and Diggs’ arrival, Gronk is optimistic about the Pats turning a corner – even if he’ll be cheering from the comfort of his couch rather than a headset on the sidelines.
While NFL coaching is off the table, Gronkowski did leave the door slightly ajar for a different kind of sideline future. When asked if he’d ever consider coaching down the road, he admitted that youth or high school football could be in his future – especially if he has children one day.
“Maybe one day I’ll coach youth or high school football, especially if I have kids,” he told TMZ.
The thought of Coach Gronk leading a high school team may sound far-fetched now, but given his passion for the game and love of working with young athletes, it’s not totally out of the question.
