With the 2025 NFL Draft just days away, all 32 teams currently hold their first-round picks, a rarity at this stage of the process.
But history suggests that won’t last. Not once in the modern draft era has every team stayed put in Round 1, and that trend appears likely to continue this year.

Trade rumors swirl around Giants and Browns
According to reports, both the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, owners of the second and third overall selections, have received multiple trade inquiries and are seriously considering offers.
While neither franchise has made any final decisions, they’ve not dismissed the possibility of moving down, a sign that draft night in Green Bay could see major shakeups early on.
Sources told ESPN’s Peter Schrager that both the Giants and Browns have been fielding calls in the last 48 hours.
While the top of this year’s draft class lacks the quarterback star power of recent years, it features elite two-way talent in Travis Hunter and disruptive edge rusher Abdul Carter, which could be fueling the interest.
The Browns and Giants are both coming off dismal seasons, Cleveland finished 3-14 while New York wasn’t much better, and both are facing long-term uncertainty at quarterback.
But with limited consensus on QB prospects this year, neither team is expected to reach for a signal-caller with a top-three pick.
Hunter, the Heisman Trophy winner and standout from Colorado, is drawing comparisons to MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani for his ability to excel on both sides of the ball.
Carter, out of Penn State, is viewed as the top defensive prospect in the class.
Either could help stabilize struggling rosters, but the possibility of trading down for a larger haul remains enticing.
New York, now with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the building, has reportedly worked out Shedeur Sanders and may target him if they can acquire a later first-round pick.
Cleveland, meanwhile, is desperate for a quarterback after Deshaun Watson’s injury setbacks and Joe Flacco’s return at age 40.
They, too, could look to re-enter Round 1 using their early second-rounder if they trade down.
Whether a deal materializes before Thursday or not, it’s clear the phones are ringing.
With draft night drama all but guaranteed, fans should expect movement, even if it’s coming later than usual.
