Cam Ward’s journey to the 2025 NFL Draft is a testament to resilience, talent, and unwavering family support.
Projected to be the first overall pick by the Tennessee Titans, Ward’s ascent from a zero-star recruit to a Heisman finalist is nothing short of remarkable.
Throughout Ward’s college career, his parents, Calvin and Patrice Ward, were his steadfast supporters. Despite the challenges of traveling from Houston to various college towns, they attended every game.

“They’ve been at every one of my youth games… they missed zero games of my college career,” Ward shared with ESPN. Their dedication underscores the pivotal role family plays in an athlete’s journey.
“In Miami, it’d be a two-hour trip from Texas. They plan on being at every NFL game, no matter if it’s in another city or overseas. They enjoy watching me play,” Cam added.

In the 2024 season at Miami, he threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and only 7 interceptions, leading the Hurricanes to a 10-3 record. His performance earned him a spot as a Heisman finalist and solidified his position as a top NFL prospect.
“It means a lot to me to have them be a part of every game, be a part of my life every day. I’ve been blessed,” said Ward.
“They’ve sacrificed financially for me, with time, putting me in positions to showcase my skills. I’m hoping to support them how they’ve supported me.”
As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, Ward’s name is at the forefront. Analysts and scouts have lauded his arm strength, mobility, and leadership qualities. While some rank Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders slightly higher, many consider Ward the top quarterback prospect in this draft class.
