Is Patrick Mahomes superstitious? The truth behind his utimate Super Bowl decision that sparked a change

Patrick Mahomes, the face of the Kansas City Chiefs and one of the NFL’s most electrifying quarterbacks, is embracing change, both on and off the field. Following a difficult end to the 2024 season, Mahomes is sporting a new haircut, signaling a symbolic reset as he looks ahead to the future.

The Chiefs were seeking their third consecutive Super Bowl victory in February, an accomplishment no team in NFL history has achieved. However, the quest ended in disappointment as the Philadelphia Eagles handed Kansas City a decisive 40-22 loss.

Down 24-0 at halftime and trailing 34-6 by the third quarter, the Chiefs could only muster late points in garbage time. Despite the defeat, Mahomes maintained his reputation as a superstar, finishing the season with 3,928 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

The “new-look” Patrick Mahomes

During the 2024 season, Mahomes rocked his signature curly Mohawk, a look tied to his superstition while winning multiple Super Bowls. Now, in the offseason, the 29-year-old quarterback has opted for a shorter, more subdued hairstyle. “I’ve wanted to do it for a while, but it was kind of one of those superstitions,” Mahomes told FOX News.

“I kept winning the Super Bowl, which is a good thing, but I didn’t want to cut the hair while I was doing it.” With a fresh cut, Mahomes hopes the change will help lead the Chiefs to their fifth Lombardi Trophy. Heading into his ninth NFL season, all with Kansas City, Mahomes remains a cornerstone of the franchise.

Under his leadership, the Chiefs have secured three Super Bowl titles and consistently dominated the league. As he prepares to watch the 2025 NFL Draft unfold, Mahomes will undoubtedly keep a close eye on the team’s future additions, hoping to bolster the roster for another championship run.

The NFL Draft begins Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, with rounds two and three on Friday and rounds four through seven on Saturday. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will provide extensive coverage of the event. For Mahomes and the Chiefs, the draft represents a new opportunity to strengthen their legacy, and for Mahomes, a chance to turn the page after a challenging end to 2024.

Tensions rise in the WNBA as Napheesa Collier, Caitlin Clark, and Cathy Engelbert clash over leadership

The WNBA has seen its fair share of disputes, but recent tensions between star forward Napheesa Collier and Commissioner Cathy Engelbert may represent a pivotal moment in the league's evolution. If true, the comment would suggest a dismissive view of Clark's individual marketability and a broader lack of appreciation for the athletes driving the league's current success. Engelbert has denied making such a statement, calling Collier's claims inaccurate in a press conference before the WNBA Finals. What followed has only deepened the divide. […]

Jacory ‘Bill’ Croskey-Merritt Runs Away With LFG Player of the Game vs. Chargers

Jacory Croskey-Merritt had a big day in the Washington Commanders' 27-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, but he's remaining humble amid his breakout. The Commanders' rookie running back took home Tom Brady's LFG Player of the Game with his 111-yard rushing performance on Sunday, adding multiple touchdowns in Washington's victory. Croskey-Merritt was also efficient with his carries, going for 7.9 yards per pop and adding 39 receiving yards. As Croskey-Merritt had nearly 10 yards per touch on Sunday, it might seem hard to believe that he was just a seventh-round rookie looking to make the Commanders' roster just a couple of months ago.
