Right now, even though this will be his first year as a starter for the Texas Longhorns, Arch Manning is the favorite to be taken with the number one pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and the Cleveland Browns have already made the first move to land the talented quarterback.

Arch Manning has spent two years on the bench behind Quinn Ewers at Texas, but in his two starts, he came away with wins and showcased all his talent. For now, the Cleveland Browns have taken the lead with the goal of drafting him next year.
The Browns’ move
The Cleveland Browns pulled off an unexpected trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Browns sent their second-round pick (No. 2 overall), along with picks No. 140 and 200 in the 2025 draft, to Jacksonville. In return, Cleveland received pick No. 5, pick No. 36, pick No. 136, and a first-round selection in the 2026 draft.
With this move, the Browns passed on what may be this year’s best talent – Colorado Buffaloes star and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter – who was then selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After the Browns used the fifth overall pick to select defensive tackle Mason Graham from the Michigan Wolverines, speculation began to swirl that this might be the first step toward acquiring Arch Manning next year.
One user posted: “All of this is for a big package next year for Arch Manning.” Another wrote: “Arch Manning, you’re already a Cleveland Brown.” A user on X commented: “Welcome to Cleveland, Arch Manning. The Browns are stockpiling draft capital for 2026.”
Although none of this is guaranteed – especially since people close to Arch Manning have leaked that he wants to play at least a couple of years for the Longhorns – if the Browns have a disastrous season, that rumor could hold more weight. So, it’s by no means certain that Arch will declare for the 2026 draft.
As of now, it looks like the battle for the Browns’ starting quarterback job this season will be between Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.
