The Indianapolis Colts added to their pass rush, selecting Ohio State edge rusher JT Tuimoloau with the No. 45 pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
As a senior in 2024, Tuimoloau posted career bests in tackles (61), tackles for loss (21 1/2), sacks (12 1/2) and forced fumbles (two), adding three passes defended in 16 games. Tuimoloau was the face of a suffocating Ohio State pass rush, leading the Big Ten in sacks and finishing top-five in the FBS in total tackles for loss (third) and sacks (tied for fifth). The streak helped Tuimoloau earn first-team All-Big Ten honors.

The Buckeyes’ 53 sacks over 16 games were second-most of any FBS team in the 2024 season. During the Buckeyes’ four-game postseason run en route to a national championship, Tuimoloau totaled 23 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 6 1/2 sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble.
Tuimoloau played all 55 games over his four seasons in Columbus, including starting the final 42, and collected 144 tackles, 43 1/2 tackles for loss, 23 1/2 sacks, two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 12 passes defended, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
‘The Beast’ breakdown
Tuimoloau ranked No. 43 in Dane Brugler’s top 300 big board. Here’s what Brugler had to say about him in his annual NFL Draft guide:
“A flexible, long athlete, Tuimoloau creates lift and extension through contact and uses his football GPS and short-area agility to close on the ball carrier. He frequently saw four hands as a pass rusher (opponents knew he was the main threat on a talented Buckeyes defensive line), but he needs to develop more seamless counter sequencing when left one-on-one on the edge. He has a terrific motor and should continue developing his shed timing to improve his run fits. Overall, Tuimoloau’s college tape is more good than exceptional, but he is competitive, skilled and doesn’t have major deficiencies that would keep him from being a dependable edge presence in the NFL. He is one of the most well-rounded defensive prospects in the class.”
