The Dallas Cowboys selected Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku with the No. 44 pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Ezeiruaku started all 12 games he played in as a senior in 2024, posting 80 tackles, 20 1/2 tackles for loss, 16 1/2 sacks, three forced fumbles and a pass defended on the way to a consensus All-American selection and the Ted Hendricks Award.

He was the FBS leader in sacks per game (1.38) in his final college season. He also led the ACC in both tackles for loss and sacks and was the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year and an All-ACC first-team selection. His tackles, tackles for loss and sacks totals in 2024 were all career bests, while his forced fumbles tied a career high.
Ezeiruaku played in 47 games during his four seasons at Boston College, starting the final 36 of his career, and had 215 tackles, 45 1/2 tackles for loss, 30 sacks, eight forced fumbles and four passes defended.
‘The Beast’ breakdown
Ezeiruaku ranked No. 22 in Dane Brugler’s top 300 big board. Here’s what Brugler had to say about him in his annual NFL Draft guide:
“As a pass rusher, Ezeiruaku is more ‘dip-and-rip’ than he is a force player, with his natural feel for depth points and the different ways he uses jab steps and cross-chops to soften the corner. He can be overwhelmed at times against the run but flashes the length to get into an opponent’s pads, lock out and stalemate at the point of attack, especially on the move. Overall, Ezeiruaku is a tad light for a stack-and-shed edge setter. But rushing the passer is his calling card, and he has the arc acceleration, body flexibility and long, active arms to break down the balance of blockers. He has NFL starter-level talent, and his tape says he is more than a DPR (designated pass rusher).”
Coaching intel
What an anonymous coach had to say about Ezeiruaku in Bruce Feldman’s mock draft:
“I thought he was a monster. He’s got a lot of moves and counters to beat you with. I don’t think people talked enough about this kid considering how good he actually was.”
