Trotz Champions-League-Aus winkt ein verlockendes Preisgeld!

Die Frauen des FC Bayern München werden beim neuen Turnier Format „World Sevens Football“ an den Start gehen, das teilte der deutsche Meister auf den Vereinskanälen mit. Der Wettbewerb findet vom 21. bis 23. Mai in Portugal statt und winkt mit einem Preisgeld von insgesamt fünf Millionen Dollar (Die Gewinnerinnen erhalten 2,5 Millionen).

[–>Das Turnier soll den Frauenfußball aufmischen und über die nächsten Jahre zu einem der wichtigsten Wettbewerbe werden. Im Portugiesischen Estoril wird auf einem kleineren Spielfeld für zweimal 15 Minuten mit 7-gegen-7 Spielerinnen gespielt. Es nehmen acht Mannschaften, aufgeteilt in zwei Vierergruppen teil.

Das Feld ist hochbesetzt …

Neben den Bayern-Frauen sind unter anderem auch Benfica Lissabon, Manchester United und Ajax Amsterdam dabei. Der Streamingdienst „DAZN“ überträgt die Spiele live aus dem Estadio Antonio Coimbro da Mota. Das Endspiel findet nur einen Tag vor dem Champions-League-Finale der Frauen am 23. Mai statt.

Viele Investoren

Die Turnierserie konnte viele Sponsoren und Investoren an Land ziehen und daher dieses äußere üppige Preisgeld von 2,5 Millionen Dollar ausschreiben – Das ist mehr als die Champions-League-Siegerinnen bekommen werden (350.000 Euro).

Adrian Jacob (Head of Football) spricht von einer „neuen Ära des Frauenfußballs.“
