Durante cerca de cinco anos, a escalação do Flamengo em sua geração vitoriosa se iniciou com Diego Alves, goleiro que transmitia segurança tanto no lado técnico quanto emocional. Em suas ausências — por lesões ou pela despedida, no fim de 2022 — o time viveu momentos de instabilidade no gol. E o duelo de hoje contra o Corinthians, às 16h, pela 6ª rodada do Brasileirão, coloca frente a frente os dois nomes que mais se destacaram nesse período: Rossi, titular desde 2023, e Hugo Souza, revelado no clube, mas que encontrou estabilidade apenas no futebol paulista.
Hoje, o argentino é absoluto na meta rubro-negra. São 17 jogos no ano e total confiança de Filipe Luís, que valoriza sua qualidade com os pés — essencial em um time que evita chutões.
Rossi chegou ao clube em julho de 2023, após o fim de contrato com o Boca Juniors, com fama de pegador de pênaltis. Seu primeiro ano, porém, foi conturbado, com críticas após a atuação no segundo jogo da final da Copa do Brasil, vencida pelo São Paulo.
Em 2024, bateu o recorde histórico do Flamengo de tempo sem tomar gols: 1.134 minutos. Mas como a sequência foi construída no Carioca e encerrada logo na estreia da Libertadores, contra o Millonarios (Colômbia), não empolgou a torcida.
Mesmo assim, se consolidou, em parte pela falta de concorrência. Santos foi para o Fortaleza, e Matheus Cunha, atual reserva, tem histórico de falhas e apenas três jogos em 2025, todos pelo Estadual. Decisivo na reta final da temporada passada, Rossi começou a atual com boas defesas e ainda demonstra habilidade para “esfriar o jogo” — marca registrada de seu antecessor.
Do fenômeno à desconfiança
Já Hugo surgiu em 2020, em um típico enredo rubro-negro: goleiro da base que apareceu em um momento de emergência — empate com o Palmeiras, pelo Brasileirão, quando o elenco foi afetado pela Covid-19 — e brilhou logo de cara. Com 1,99m e apelidado de Neneca, virou fenômeno instantâneo no clube.
Mas as falhas vieram na mesma velocidade. Uma delas, na última rodada do Brasileirão de 2020, quase comprometeu o título. A desconfiança o acompanhou até julho de 2023, quando, com a chegada de Rossi, foi emprestado ao Chaves, de Portugal.
Na Europa, reencontrou a confiança e deixou para trás até polêmicas extracampo. Repatriado pelo Corinthians em julho de 2024, vive bom início no clube, com atuações decisivas que o tornaram xodó da torcida e peça-chave no título paulista. Hoje, o antigo futuro do gol do Flamengo reencontra quem ficou com o seu lugar.
Mas ainda não será sob o comando de Dorival Júnior. O novo treinador do Corinthians — campeão da Copa do Brasil e da Libertadores em 2022 pelo Flamengo — já tem acordo verbal, mas o anúncio do clube só deve ser feito na segunda-feira, quando o contrato válido até o fim de 2026 for assinado.
Hoje, ele deverá assistir ao jogo em um camarote no Maracanã, enquanto o time será comandado por Orlando Ribeiro, treinador do sub-20. A estreia de Dorival está prevista para quarta-feira, contra o Novorizontino, pela Copa do Brasil.
