Puka Nacua is one of the finest young talents in the NFL. The 23-year-old Los Angeles Rams wide receiver has marveled fans and experts alike in his two seasons in the league.
A fifth-round pick out of BYU, the wideout exploded onto the scene with Los Angeles, which was dealing with the absence of superstar Cooper Kupp to injuries. Kupp was released by the Rams on March and signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
That escalated quickly! Puka Nacua’s older brother slaps a fan during a United Football League game
Nacua produced an NFL-rookie record 1,486 receiving yards on a then-rookie-best 105 receptions. Last season, Nacua had 79 receptions for 990 yards and three touchdowns, but missed six games due to a knee injury. Regardless, the Rams’ future looks bright with Puka on the field.
Puka Nacua’s older brother slaps a fan during an argument
A lot of people don’t know that Puka Nacua has an older brother who also plays football. His name is Samson Nacua, and he played his final collegiate year at BYU with his younger brother. The 27 years old player appeared in 12 games with 21 receptions for 329 yards and three touchdowns.
The 6’3, 206 lbs. receiver, who have had stints on the NFL, currently plays with the Michigan Panthers for the United Football League, a spring football league that resulted from the merger of the XFL and USFL in 2024. Last season, Samson tallied 11 receptions for 125 yards and got the opportunity to play alongside his older brother Kai Nacua, 29.
But now Samson is under the radar for getting into an altercation with a fan during a game between the Michigan Panthers and St. Louis Battlehawks. What seemed as a shouting match between Nacua and the Battlehawks follower, ended in the older Nacua slapping a man in the face. The clip went viral over the weekend.
The UFL will investigate the incident
The United Football League is looking into the matter, according to a statement released by the company. “The UFL is aware of the incident that took place last evening at the conclusion of the Michigan Panthers vs. St. Louis Battlehawks game in St. Louis. League officials are currently investigating the matter.”
Samson Nacua is in his second season with the Panthers and previously played for the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023. He has spent time on the rosters of the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints but has never played in a regular-season NFL game.
By the way, the Michigan Panthers fell 32-27 to the St. Louis Battlehawks at The Dome at America’s Center on Saturday night. Despite the loss, Panthers quarterback Bryce Perkins, the reigning back-to-back Offensive Player of the Week, continued to add to his MVP campaign by completing 21-of-25 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns.
