ST. LOUIS — In a physical first-round series between the St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets, the Blues will be without defenseman Tyler Tucker for at least Game 5.
Tucker did not practice with the Blues on Tuesday before the team’s flight to Winnipeg for Game 5 on Wednesday. Afterward, coach Jim Montgomery said that he is considered day-to-day.
Tucker was injured with 4:17 remaining in the Blues’ 5-1 win over Winnipeg in Game 4. He was chasing a puck down a puck in the corner and, attempting to avoid Jets forward Brandon Tanev, fell awkwardly and was wincing as he fell to the ice.
Tucker, 25, lay on the ice briefly before being helped off by Blues athletic trainer Ray Barile and teammate Oskar Sundqvist. He didn’t return to the game, and the club was off Monday.
Tucker has played three games in the series, jumping into the lineup in a Game 2 loss to the Jets in Winnipeg when the Blues used 11 forwards and seven defensemen. But in Game 3, they went back to 12 forwards and six defensemen and chose to keep Tucker in the lineup ahead of veteran Ryan Suter.

In his three games, Tucker has averaged 14:24 of ice time, and he had a goal in the Blues’ win in Game 3. He’s one of the Blues’ most physical players with 12 hits in those three games.
Suter, who was a healthy scratch in both Games 3 and 4, is expected to draw back in for the Blues in Game 5. He practiced on the third pair Tuesday with Nick Leddy.
