Prince Harry is facing a wave of criticism after appearing at a Hollywood event on the same day his brother, Prince William, attended the funeral of Pope Francis on April 26.

Social media users were quick to draw comparisons between the two brothers. Images of Harry speaking at a Los Angeles event circulated online, prompting harsh commentary.
“Prince William attending the funeral of Pope Francis. Prince Harry cracking jokes for Hollywood elites like a clown. What a difference,” one user commented.
Others accused Harry of chasing fame over duty, branding him out of touch with the royal role he once held.
Behind the absence: No invite, No role
However, sources close to the couple have pushed back, stating that Harry and Meghan Markle were never invited to the service. A royal insider told columnist Rob Shuter that the Sussexes would have seized the opportunity had it been offered.
“They absolutely would have gone if they were asked. It would have been a major opportunity for them to be seen on the world stage again,” the insider declared.
The choice of Prince William to represent the monarchy aligns with royal protocol. King Charles, by tradition, did not attend the funeral, as reigning monarchs typically do not attend such events. William‘s presence underscored his growing role within the royal family, especially in light of Queen Camilla‘s recent reduced public engagements and Kate Middleton‘s continued recovery from health concerns.
Meanwhile, Harry continues to face legal and logistical barriers to returning to royal duties, including his ongoing legal battle over police protection in Britain. Since stepping back from his royal role, he has fought to reinstate his security arrangements, a case now pending appeal after a recent High Court ruling went against him.
