Handball-Rentner Lichtlein – Karriere-Start gegen Reporter

Jeder fängt mal klein an. Gilt auch für Profis in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga, aber nicht für alle.

Carsten Lichtlein, inzwischen 44, normalerweise Torwart-Trainer bei der MT Melsungen und seit einigen Wochen als Oldie-Notnagel bei den Nordhessen einspringend, hat nicht klein angefangen.

Bei seinem Einstand im Männer-Bereich war „Lütti“ zwar eigentlich noch A-Junior, aber schon 2 Meter groß. Eines seiner ersten Spiele bei den Erwachsenen hat Lichtlein hoch verloren.

Karriere-Start gegen Reporter

Es war Samstag, der 15. November 1997. Lichtlein und seine TG Heidingsfeld (Würzburg) mussten in der bayerischen Landesliga Nord beim TSV 61 Zirndorf (heute HG Zirndorf 2000) in dessen Bibert-Halle ran.

Lichtlein spielte eigentlich in der Heidingsfelder A-Jugend (Bayerische Oberliga), aber der Trainer der Männer setzte ihn in der 1. Mannschaft ein. Es war Family-Business, Coach der TG Heidingsfeld war Artur Lichtlein, Jahrgang 1945, natürlich ehemaliger Torwart, deutscher Vizemeister mit dem TV Großwallstadt (1971) und Vater von Carsten.

[–>Lichtlein senior war ein Trainer „vom alten Schlag“. Also einer, der seine Anweisungen mit enormer Lautstärke auf die Platte brüllte. Sein Sohnemann war damals schon Mitglied der Junioren-Nationalmannschaft.

Entsprechend groß war zu Spielbeginn der Respekt bei den gastgebenden Zirndorfern, in deren Kader unter anderem auch der Autor dieser Geschichte stand. Das mit dem Respekt hatte sich schnell erledigt.

Nach 20 Minuten lag Heidingsfeld mit der Familie Lichtlein 2:8 hinten, zur Pause gar 4:11. Am Ende gewann Zirndorf 25:17, so steht es heutzutage in manchen Spielen schon nach der ersten Halbzeit.

Auf Lichtleins folgende Top-Karriere hatte die hohe Niederlage keine Auswirkung. Es folgten Stationen beim TV Kirchzell, TV Großwallstadt, TBV Lemgo Lippe, VfL Gummersbach, HC Erlangen und bei GWD Minden. Mit der DHB-Auswahl wurde er zwei Mal Europameister (2004, 2016), Vize-Weltmeister (2003) und Weltmeister (2007).

Sonntag (15 Uhr, live bei WELT TV und Dyn/Anzeige) sitzt „Lütti“ gegen die Rhein-Neckar Löwen wieder als Oldie-Notnagel auf der Bank.
