Arnesen: „Als ich ihn geholt habe, waren alle ziemlich überrascht. Ich war von Anfang an sehr positiv, dass er es in Liverpool schafft. Er ist so intelligent, dass er alle Leute hinter sich bringt. Sein Man-Management ist klasse, er ist taktisch sehr stark.“

Und weiter: „Er ist ruhig, er hat Humor. Er führt sehr, sehr viele Einzelgespräche und läuft nie weg vor einer Diskussion mit Spielern. Und er hört immer zu. Wenn ihm der Athletiktrainer sagt, es würde Sinn machen, die Länge der Übungen zu verändern, dann macht er das.“

Gemeinsam feierten Arnesen und Slot 2023 die niederländische Meisterschaft. Ein Jahr zuvor erreichte der Verein das Conference-League-Finale (0:1 gegen AS Rom).

Er hat gesagt: Ich habe gute Sachen und nicht so gute. Das Gute: Wir greifen von der ersten Minute an. Aber um das zu machen, müssen wir viel mehr arbeiten. Und wenn ihr vorne den Ball nicht gewinnt, müsst ihr auch mal 60 Meter zurücklaufen.“

Arnesen: „Er ist immer sehr klar, wie er über Fußball gesprochen hat. Er spricht meistens über die eigene Mannschaft. Den Spielern vermittelt er: Wenn wir das spielen, was wir wollen, dann gewinnen wir.“
