Den Kampf um den Klassenerhalt hat Hoffenheim so gut wie gewonnen. Den Kampf um Sandro Wagner (37) noch nicht. Der Co-Trainer der Nationalmannschaft, der nach dem Final Four in der Nations League (4. bis 8. Juni) beim DFB aufhört, ist der Wunschkandidat des Bundesligisten. TSG-Trainer Christian Ilzer (47) steht vor dem Aus. Der Österreicher konnte nur eines der letzten sieben Spiele gewinnen. Gestandene Profis wie Andrej Kramaric (33) stehen nicht mehr hinter ihm. Eine Trennung nach der Saison gilt als wahrscheinlich.
[–>Wagner, der im DFB-Team der wichtigste Vertraute von Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann (37) ist, gilt als heiße Trainer-Aktie. Die Frage ist, wie Hoffenheim ihn überzeugen will? Schon nach dem Aus von Pellegrino Matarazzo (47) im November sowie nach der 0:4-Heimniederlage gegen Union Berlin Anfang Februar beschäftigte sich der Verein mit Wagner. Beide Male gab es Absagen.
► Der Klub würde Wagner ermöglichen, nach Frankfurt zu pendeln, um die Fußballlehrer-Lizenz zu machen. Bis Dezember stehen noch sechs Lehrgänge an, die jeweils etwa drei Tage dauern.
► Wagner hätte in Hoffenheim ein ruhiges Umfeld, in dem er Spieler entwickeln kann.

Neben Wagner beschäftigt sich Hoffenheim mit Lukas Kwasniok (43) von Paderborn. Nach SPORT BILD-Infos soll auch Marco Rose (48/zuletzt Leipzig) auf der Liste stehen. Allerdings hätte Wagner mehr Strahlkraft. Ausgeschlossen scheint ein Wagner-Wechsel zu Leipzig oder Wolfsburg, die für Sommer ebenfalls nach Trainern suchen.
