No matter how successful a character is on screen, if negotiations don’t go well, their role may be doomed to disappear. Jeremy Renner had no qualms about saying ‘no’ to Disney for a second season of ‘Hawkeye’. The actor considers the offer presented by the company to be an “insult” to his figure.
He himself says that his first reaction was one of total stupefaction: “Sorry? Why? Do you think I’m only half of Jeremy because I got run over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I earned in the first season.” With the substantial drop in his salary, Renner has no intention of donning Marvel’s archer suit again.

Is Jeremy Renner saying goodbye to Marvel and his ‘Hawkeye’?
The actor explains that there is no reason for this pay cut, as it will cost him “twice the work and time” for half the “money”. Even so, he shows his disagreement at not being able to be Hawkeye again, for the moment. “I’d still love to do it, but I had to stand up for myself. I just asked for what I was earning in the first season”.
Although he is sorry to have to turn down the project, the actor considers that it is not bad news for his physical condition. “I’m happy to let it go, because my body is probably thanking me, over and over again, that I’m not doing it now. But we’ll see,” he says.
Anyway, Renner exonerates the company that gave him the opportunity to get into the character: “This is not Marvel. This is like, just Disney. I don’t even think it’s really Disney. It’s just the penny pinchers, the accountants. I told them to go to hell. I mean, just the offer was an insult. So we didn’t agree.”
