Treinador deixa Arábia Saudita

Jorge Jesus já não é treinador do Al-Hilal. Ao final da noite desta sexta-feira, o emblema saudita anunciou o despedimento do treinador português, de 70 anos, que surge na sequência da derrota (3-1) na última terça-feira aos pés do Al-Ahli, nas meias-finais da Liga dos Campeões Asiática.
O técnico luso voltou, desta forma, a perder a oportunidade de vencer a competição de clubes mais importante do continente, depois de, na época passada, também ter sido eliminado nas meias-finais, na ocasião pelo Al-Ain, que acabaria por conquistar a prova.
Apesar de as coisas não estarem fáceis no campeonato, com o Al-Hilal a seis pontos do líder Al-Ittihad numa altura em que faltam apenas cinco jornadas para o término da Saudi Pro League, o facto de não ter conseguido vencer a Champions Asiática com o emblema de Riade aparenta ter sido o principal motivo para a saída de Jesus.
Afinal, e apenas desde a chegada do português, o clube investiu 479,05 milhões de euros na contratação de novos jogadores, tendo sido um dos principais responsáveis pelo aumento do número de nomes sonantes no campeonato saudita nos últimos anos.
Entre os vários reforços contratados pelo Al-Hilal durante a passagem de Jesus, o mais caro foi Neymar: o brasileiro chegou proveniente do PSG no verão de 2023 por 90 milhões de euros, embora tenha sido um autêntico fiasco na Arábia Saudita, depois de ter participado em apenas sete jogos oficiais (marcou um golo e realizou três assistências) pelo clube, antes de regressar ao Santos no passado mês de janeiro.
Os portugueses Rúben Neves e João Cancelo, assim como Marcos Leonardo, ex-Benfica, Malcom, Aleksandar Mitrović, Sergej Milinković-Savić ou Kalidou Koulibaly foram apenas alguns dos jogadores que reforçaram o Al-Hilal nestas últimas duas temporadas.
