For years, we’ve watched Travis Kelce lead the Kansas City Chiefs offense alongside Patrick Mahomes, and the duo has played a key role in the team’s success. In a sense, his world has revolved around him.
Perhaps that’s why Kelce and pop icon Taylor Swift are a romantic couple: it’s Swift’s world, and the rest of us just watch and listen… Except for Travis.
He got soul! Travis Kelce lets out his forbidden moves that only Taylor Swift has seen
Will this be Travis Kelce’s last season?
This is not to say that the Kansas City team has always been about two guys. No, it’s not all down to them. But they did play a big part, and like all good things, sometimes it has to come to an end.
With 35-year-old Kelce ready to play what many believe will be his last NFL season in 2025, it would make sense for the future Hall of Famer to step back and let the offense take care of someone else, preparing for when Travis hangs up his boots.
And for general manager Brett Veach, who spoke to The Kansas City Star, Kelce will make his presence felt on offense, but it may not be in the way many have become accustomed to.
“You’ll see Travis have a bigger impact,” Veach said. “It may not be in production, but in the offense (overall), which is very different from the past, when it always relied on Kelce.”
Who will Travis Kelce hand the #1 crown to?
Kelce is a leader on offense, and now it’s time to pass that crown on to someone else.
With Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, the two young stars in the receiving zone, and Noah Gray and Jared Wiley, the two tight ends following Kelce, there are a couple of players who could take that step.
Given that the offense is clearly in transition, leaving Kelce behind as the number one, it will be interesting to see how it operates and evolves as the preseason schedule continues and the regular season begins
It looks like a preparation for a changing of the guard, a year before Kelce is likely to launch into a private life away from football and with Swift… although given his desire to jump into the entertainment world, it may not be so private.
What about football? Transition and change seem to be something that is essential for the Chiefs, as it is in life.
