Stephen Curry’s son Canon gets so angry about Warriors loss he refuses to talk to his father

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has been through his fair share of emotional highs and lows on the court, but this time, it wasn’t a disappointed fan or media critique that hit hardest-it was the silent treatment from his own son, Canon Curry.

After the Warriors’ crushing 115-107 loss to the Houston Rockets in Game 6 of the first-round playoff series, the normally cheerful Canon had a much different reaction than fans are used to seeing.

Steph Curry shows how badly wrecked his thumb is to a curious reporter

The six-year-old, clearly devastated by the outcome, reportedly refused to speak to his father after the game.

Canon’s silent protest: A glimpse into a young fan’s passion

The loss marked a premature and disappointing end to the Warriors’ season, but for Canon, it was more than just a game-it was personal.

In a clip shared after the matchup, Curry revealed how deeply the defeat affected his son. “He was in his feelings. He didn’t talk to me for about 30 minutes after the game. I was like, ‘Yo, I didn’t miss all them shots!'” Curry said, trying to find some humor in the situation.

Canon‘s silent protest is a powerful reminder of just how emotionally invested young fans-and family members-can become.

Growing up in the high-pressure world of the NBA, Canon is no stranger to the excitement and heartbreak that come with professional sports. But on this night, the heartbreak clearly won out.

While Curry has been the face of Golden State’s dynasty and is often praised for his leadership and poise, even he wasn’t immune to the sting of playoff elimination-and neither were his children. This incident also showcases how the Curry children, particularly Canon, are developing a real emotional connection to the game and their father’s career.

A season of struggles ends with disappointment

The 2024-25 season had been a rollercoaster for the Warriors. Injuries, inconsistent performance, and a fiercely competitive Western Conference led to a difficult playoff path.

Facing a hungry Houston Rockets team led by rising stars, the Warriors couldn’t pull through in the closing moments of Game 6.

Despite Curry‘s 33-point performance in the loss, the team couldn’t overcome late-game turnovers and defensive lapses. For Canon, who has seen his dad hoist multiple trophies and carry teams through adversity, this ending may have felt like an unfamiliar heartbreak.

Still, Curry didn’t let the moment discourage him from the broader perspective. “You try to take it in stride, but it’s hard,” he admitted in the post-game media session. “You want to win for your team, your fans, and yeah, even your kids who are watching.”

Canon‘s reaction, though unexpected, underscores how even children can feel the intensity of defeat when someone they admire is involved. It also speaks to the environment Curry and his wife, Ayesha, have fostered-one where their kids are passionate, emotionally in tune, and deeply involved in their father’s journey.

As the offseason begins, Curry will have time to reflect, heal, and perhaps win back the affections of his young son. One thing’s for sure: Canon will be cheering again next season-but hopefully after a win.

NFL fines Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon $100K for sideline altercation with Emari Demercado
