Nur 70 Stunden nach dem spektakulären Einzug ins Champions-League-Halbfinale schlägt der SCM den HSV Hamburg 37:28 (18:14). Zwar gewinnen auch die Füchse und Melsungen – doch Magdeburg hat weiterhin nur einen Minuspunkt mehr, bei drei Spielen weniger. Die Titelchance lebt!

Schon vor dem Anpfiff tobt die ausverkaufte GETEC Arena (6.600 Fans): Kapitän Christian O’Sullivan (33) verlängert bis 2026! Der Norweger wird damit nächste Saison sein 10-jähriges SCM-Jubiläum feiern – ein starkes Zeichen vorm Bundesliga-Endspurt und dem Final4 in Köln.

SCM-Coach Bennet Wieget (43) sagt: „Christian ist ein unheimlich wichtiger Spieler für den SC Magdeburg, auf – und abseits des Spielfeldes. Er hat mit uns alle Titel gewonnen und als Kapitän einen großen Anteil an der sportlichen Entwicklung der letzten Jahre. Er wird uns auch in der kommenden Saison mit seiner Erfahrung besonders in der Abwehr helfen unsere Ziele zu erreichen.“

O‘Sullivan: „Magdeburg ist meine Heimat und der SCM war immer mein erster Ansprechpartner. Ich freue mich, dass ich auch in der kommenden Saison das grün-rote Trikot tragen werde.“

So geht es auch in Halbzeit zwei weiter. Magnus Saugstrup sorgt in der 43. Minute für die erste 9-Tore-Führung (29:20). Magdeburg dominiert, lässt Hamburg keine Chance – ein überzeugender Auftritt des Champions-League-Halbfinalisten. Am Ende feiern die Wiegert-Jungs einen 37:28-Erfolg vor der Länderspielpause.
