Svěřenci trenéra Ladislava Štancla sice ve finále smazali dvoubrankovou ztrátu, ale v čase 67:50 rozhodl svým druhým gólem v utkání Ville Heiska. Pro český tým to byla jediná prohra na turnaji. Finové mu oplatili porážku 2:5 ze skupiny a oslavili pátý titul po úspěších v letech 2003, 2011, 2015 a 2017.
Do utkání vstoupili lépe Finové a po půl minutě otevřel skóre Aatu Knuuti, jehož vysunul za českou obranu Rasmus Nyström. V 5. minutě odpověděl Adam Bureš, který přesnou střelou z otočky nedal brankáři Aapovi Seppälämu šanci zareagovat. Ve druhé třetině Seveřané odskočili do dvoubrankového náskoku. Ve 25. minutě překonal Miroslava Kovaříka Heiska a v polovině prostředního dějství zakončil individuální akci Joona Kajaala.
Češi ve druhé části neproměnili jedinou přesilovou hru zápasu při vyloučení Ilma Leina, ale ve 46. minutě se prosadili z přečíslení tří na jednoho. Přihrávku Vojtěcha Petráně zužitkoval Mikeš Motejzík. V čase 57:47 v power play vynutil prodloužení Michael Wertheim. V nastavení po kombinaci Jamiho Markkanena a Veikka Paajanena vstřelil vítězný gól Heiska.
