Georgios Papagiannis llevaba un partido casi perfecto. Había metido 17 puntos sin fallar un sólo tiro. Y tuvo el que podía casi sellar el pase del Mónaco. Pero lo falló y le dio la vida al Barça. Con 85-84, de repente, los azulgranas tenían 7 segundos para ganar el partido y el billete a Abu Dabi.
El rebote de ese tiro lo capturó Kevin Punter... y decidió ser el héroe de su equipo. El escolta avanzó con el balón, más lento quizá de lo que requería la jugada. Empezó a buscar hueco y pronto quedó claro que se jugaría él el tiro. Buscó el triple, cuando una canasta de dos le hubiera dado al Barça el triunfo, y no vio el mejor pase que podía dar, a Willy que pedía el balón cerca del aro emparejado con Mike James. Los altos se habían ido a tapar el tiro de Punter.
Punter agotó el bote sin sacar ninguna ventaja, nada, así que a un segundo para el final, con Willy sólo en el semicírculo, se levantó para tirar con Papagiannis delante que le oscureció con la mano (punteo perfecto) la visión al aro. El balón ni siquiera tocó el aro cuando los tableros se iluminaron y se esfumaron las opciones de ir a Abu Dabi del Barça.
El debate está claro ¿debió buscar una mejor opción Punter? Parace que sí, la tenía con el pase a Willy e cinluso invirtiendo el balón a la esquina para Satoransky quien tuvo dos tiros muy certeros poco antes. Punter, que lanzó casi a nueve metros, eligió la peor de las opciones y se convirtió en el villano que condenó, en la última jugada, al Barça.
