Folgt Xavi auf Xabi?
Xabi Alonso (43) wird Bayer Leverkusen wahrscheinlich am Ende der Saison in Richtung Madrid verlassen. Real will seinen Ex-Spieler als Trainer zurückholen. In Leverkusen sucht man jetzt fieberhaft nach einem Nachfolger. Einer der gehandelten Namen: Xavi (45).
[–>Der sprach jetzt mit „The Athletic“ über seine Zukunft und ob er wieder auf einer Trainerbank Platz nehmen wird. Xavi: „Natürlich. Wo, weiß ich noch nicht. Ich habe es nicht eilig, aber ich möchte ein gutes Projekt. Wo du beispielsweise vier Jahre Zeit hast, um zu arbeiten und ein Projekt auf die Beine zu stellen.“
Und weiter: „Ich würde gerne in der Premier League arbeiten, weil ich die Leidenschaft dort liebe. In Spanien geht es zu sehr um das Ergebnis.“
Zuletzt war Xavi Trainer beim FC Barcelona, wo er auch die meiste Zeit seiner aktiven Karriere spielte. Vergangenen Sommer wurde er von den Katalanen entlassen, hat seither keine neue Stelle angetreten.
In Leverkusen steht Xavi zwar auf der Xabi-Nachfolger-Liste, gilt aber nicht als Wunschkandidat. Die Leverkusener bevorzugen einen Trainer, der noch nicht bei einem ganz großen Verein war.
Xavis Traumziel: „Eine Nationalmannschaft, das würde mir gefallen. Als ich davon träumte, Trainer zu werden, träumte ich davon, bei einer Weltmeisterschaft oder Europameisterschaft dabei zu sein.“
Beide Turniere gewann er als Spieler bereits mit der spanischen Nationalmannschaft: 2010 wurde er Weltmeister, 2008 und 2012 Europameister – gemeinsam mit Mittelfeld-Kollege Xabi Alonso. Vielleicht kommen eines Tages weitere Titel als Trainer dazu. Ob das dann auch mit Spanien sein wird?

Dazu sagt Xavi: „Warum nicht in der Zukunft? Oder eine andere. Ich bin nicht ungeduldig.“
Selbst wenn kein Angebot aus Leverkusen kommt, wirkt es so, als würde Xavi bald wieder eine Trainerstelle antreten.
