Jetzt gibt es neue Details, wie es dazu kommen konnte und wie schlimm es war.Nach Informationen von SPORT BILD trainierte die Radsport-Legende am Freitagnachmittag allein auf dem Fahrrad, in einer Einheit im Schwarzwald wollte er mehrere Kilometer abspulen. Als er aber in seiner Heimatstadt Merdingen (rund 2600 Einwohner) unterwegs war, nahm ihm aber ein Autofahrer die Vorfahrt. Ullrich stürzte schwer, musste ins Krankenhaus. Prošla si zdravotními trabli, střídala trenéry, a i když se v posledních třech letech opět zvládá kvalifikovat na vrcholné akce, tak vysoko jako v Dauhá se jí skákat nedařilo.V katarské metropoli překonala hned ve svém úvodním závodě sezony 190 cm na druhý pokus a 194 cm dokonce na první. Vyrovnala si tak venkovní osobní rekord, v hale zvládla o centimetr výš před devíti lety.
