Casagrande vê o momento do Vasco, derrotado pelo Vitória fora de casa, sendo passível de forte preocupação para os torcedores. Sinalizando que o clube “tem um elenco muito fraco”, o ex-jogador não garante uma salvação no Campeonato Brasileiro através do trabalho de Fernando Diniz. Isso porque, além do retrospecto negativo nos últimos times, a incompatibilidade em relação ao estilo do treinador é capaz de piorar o cenário em 2025.
“Irá lutar para fugir do rebaixamento e nada mais do que isso no Campeonato Brasileiro […] A escolha da vez é o Fernando Diniz, que vem de péssimos trabalhos como a parte final no Fluminense, seleção brasileira e Cruzeiro.”, escreveu Casão, em coluna no UOL Esporte.
“Fernando Diniz para tirar um time do rebaixamento é completamente incompatível, até porque não tem um elenco qualificado para fazer o que ele gosta […] Dizer que Diniz não conseguirá salvar o Vasco é chutar, mas afirmar que seu estilo de jogo não tem nada a ver com o elenco é real.”, acrescentou.
Situação melancólica do Vasco
Após uma temporada sem nenhum tipo de sufoco, o Vasco pode, novamente, flertar com o rebaixamento. Diante do longo jejum de títulos, Casagrande considera que a riquíssima histórica do Cruz-Maltino está longe de ser honrada em campo.
“O Vasco tem uma história riquíssima, uma camisa pesada, mas já faz muito tempo que os times atuais não são compatíveis com sua história e muito menos com o peso de sua camisa.”, prosseguiu.

Além do Vasco, Casagrande prevê Juventude, Mirassol, Vitória, Santos e Sport lutando contra o rebaixamento no Brasileirão. Em comum, o ex-jogador avalia que os clubes possuem elencos fragilizados e com um nível abaixo dos rivais.
