Es war am Sonntag kurz nach 19 Uhr, als feststand, dass Vizemeister Alba sich nicht direkt für die Basketball-Playoffs qualifizieren würde. Und damit ein großes Hallen-Problem auf die Berliner zukommen könnte.
Ärgerlich aus Berliner Sicht, da Alba sieben der letzten acht Spiele gewonnen hat. Aber trotzdem reichte der Endspurt nicht für die Top 6, weil Heidelberg in der Overtime doch gegen Frankfurt gewinnen konnte. Und sich damit an den Berlinern vorbei auf Platz sechs schob.

Jetzt muss Alba als Siebter gegen den Achten in die Play-ins: Das ist der MBC. Das Duell steigt am Dienstag (20 Uhr/live bei Dyn/Anzeige) in Berlin.
Sollte Alba verlieren, hätten sie noch eine weitere Chance, müssten dann am Donnerstag (15. Mai) gegen den Sieger aus dem Spiel Neunter gegen Zehnten (Oldenburg gegen Rostock) ran.

Und was jetzt? Die Berliner überlegen jetzt, ihr Heimrecht abzugeben. Oder an einem neutralen Ort mit BBL-tauglicher Arena zu spielen. „An diesen Alternativen arbeiten wir“, gibt Strauven zu.
Alba ist also zum Siegen verdammt. Damit sie am Donnerstag nicht auswärts antreten müssen …
