Der 2:1–Sieg in Fuenlabrada war für den AD Ceuta FC ein historischer – und das nicht nur, weil der Klub nach 45 Jahren seine Rückkehr in den spanischen Profifußball feiert.

[–>Ceuta ist eine Exklave und gehört zu Spanien – und das obwohl die Stadt territorial auf dem Gebiet von Marokko liegt. Seit jeher sind die Vereine von Ceuta Teil des spanischen Fußballverbands.
Durch den Sieg über Fuenlabrada ist dem Klub von Trainer Jose Juan Romero (51) der direkte Aufstieg nicht mehr zu nehmen. Der Coach ist Sinnbild des Erfolgs, kämpfte Ceuta 2022/23 aus dem Abstiegskampf der dritten Liga raus.
Nach einem fünften Platz in der Vorsaison steht jetzt der Aufstieg fest.

Einige Vereine aus dem Süden Spaniens können sich trotz der Reise auf einen anderen Kontinent auf kurze Auswärtsreisen freuen: Cadiz oder auch Malaga sind nicht viel mehr als hundert Kilometer von Ceuta entfernt.
Kurios: Ceuta–Mittelstürmer Rodri Rios (34) stand in der Saison 2014/15 für 1860 München auf dem Platz. In der deutschen dritten Liga traf der Spanier in zwölf Spielen nur einmal.
