Shedeur Sanders has shown Cleveland Browns that holding off on their fall in the 2025 NFL Draft was a wise decision.
During the team’s rookie minicamp, the quarterback has made a very good impression. However, it’s not just him fighting for the QB position.

Dillon Gabriel, who was acquired by the Browns during the third round of the draft, is one of his competitors. He is joined by Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, who were already with the team, and Deshaun Watson who is recovering from his Achilles injury.
However, the one who is putting all his chips on Shedeur is former wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson. In his visit to FS1’s “Speak” microphones, the former Carolina Panther mentioned Sanders’ work: “He’s going to be, in my opinion, one of the most popular athlete in the state this season,” Johnson said.

In the same dialogue, the former New York Jets threw a risky prediction about his jump to the field as starting QB:
As far as if he steps on the field and becomes a starting quarterback, which I predict he will by week 4… regardless of they took quarterback in three, regardless if Kenny was traded for.
Regarding the stiff competition among the four quarterbacks the Cleveland Browns have, the former Dallas Cowboys did not hesitate to say: “I have a PhD in quarterback observation. Trust me, he’s the best quarterback in the room,” Johnson commented.
The fight for the starting job
With four options to fill the quarterback position, the Browns will have a tough decision to make and they are not ruling out the option of releasing one of them.
Despite this, Johnson does not rule out that Sanders is the one who stands out among all the options: “He’s better than Dillon Gabriel, he’s better than Kenny Pickett, he’s better than an old Joe Flacco, that’s going to give you three four games but can’t give you 17”, added the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cleveland Browns, for the moment, do not have a clear starter. For this reason, each of the contenders will have to push themselves to the limit.
