Jansta na funkci rezignoval v březnu, kdy kvůli obvinění z praní špinavých peněz opustil i post předsedy České unie sportu (ČUS). V čele českého basketbalu stál třiašedesátiletý advokát od roku 2009. Naposledy byl zvolen předsedou v roce 2022, ale čtvrté funkční období nedokončil.
Výbor ČBF začátkem dubna rozhodl, že na květnové valné hromadě doporučí volit nového předsedu až na podzim. „Možní kandidáti, kteří by byli voleni na řádné valné hromadě, by neměli dostatek času na zvážení kandidatury a členové ČBF by neměli dostatek času na seznámení se s kandidáty,“ uvedla federace. V případě nynějšího zvolení by nový předseda také nesl plnou odpovědnost za průběh nadcházejícího evropského šampionátu žen a mistrovství světa hráček do 19 let v Brně, jejichž přípravy vrcholí.
Valná hromada proto pověřila výbor svoláním mimořádné valné hromady na podzim. Předseda se bude volit do konce aktuálního funkčního období do jara 2027.
ČBF nyní řídí místopředsedové Zdeněk Bříza a Tomáš Kotrč, na které po Janstově rezignaci přešly jeho pravomoci. Jansta je od konce února ve vazbě.
