This has become even more interesting. Rob Gronkowski, the former New England Patriots star tight end, has changed his stance regarding Bill Belichick’s relationship with Jordon Hudson, calling the situation at the University of North Carolina (UNC) a constant source of distraction. This shift in perspective comes weeks after Gronkowski had initially defended Hudson following her now-infamous interruption of Belichick’s CBS interview.
During a recent appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Gronkowski reflected on Belichick’s longtime mantra from their Patriots days: eliminating distractions. He suggested that Belichick’s current situation at UNC seems far removed from that principle.

“You know, and in the back of your head too, you’re just thinking to yourself as well, ‘When you were on the Patriots, the whole goal was to eliminate all the distractions that can possibly happen while you’re on the team,'” Gronkowski stated. “And don’t bring those distractions to the team and in the locker room, and we’re just looking down at the program in North Carolina and it feels like there are just distractions 24/7 down there. There’s no football talk as well.”
His remarks followed reports from sports journalist Pablo Torre that Hudson had been banned from UNC’s football facilities-claims the university has denied. In response, UNC issued a statement clarifying that Hudson will continue managing Belichick’s personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the university.

It gets deeper than just an opinion
However, despite UNC’s statement, Torre stood by his reporting, citing sources at the highest levels of the football program. He noted that his team had filed multiple Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests that were left unsatisfied.
Hudson’s involvement in Belichick’s affairs has sparked speculation about her level of control over the legendary coach’s professional life. Emails revealed that Belichick had requested UNC staff to copy Hudson on all email communications directed to him. Additionally, her preference for limited media exposure reportedly led to constraints on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” production at UNC.
Meanwhile, Belichick is said to be considering former Chicago Bears VP of communications Brandon Faber to oversee his media engagements moving forward, a move that suggests Hudson’s role may be diminishing. Despite the growing criticism from former players, reports indicate that Belichick remains largely unfazed by the controversy. However, the fact that even trusted voices like Gronkowski are questioning the situation raises concerns about the stability of Belichick’s tenure at UNC.
As the saga continues to unfold, Belichick’s handling of distractions-a hallmark of his Patriots coaching philosophy-will be under intense scrutiny. Whether UNC can shift the focus back to football remains to be seen.
