Halle Bailey, known for playing Ariel in Disney’s live-action version of The Little Mermaid, has accused her ex-partner and father of her child, rapper and streamer DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry. In court documents, Bailey claimed she suffered physical and verbal abuse during their relationship between 2022 and 2024.
The actress, who has recently revealed an internal struggle with postpartum depression, obtained a temporary restraining order from the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The measure not only protects her, but also her son, Halo Saint Granberry, born in December 2023. With this restriction, DDG must stay at least 90 meters away from Bailey and the child, including places such as their home, school and car.

In her statement, Bailey recounted multiple incidents dating back to January 2025, in which her ex-partner allegedly insulted and belittled her constantly, even in front of their son. “I realized that there is no way to appease Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse to continue,” the actress wrote as part of her testimony.
Bailey detailed that DDG used to call her “bitch” and “evil” in the child’s presence. She also accused him of using his social media – where he has millions of followers – to publicly defame her and sow hatred towards her. “He claims that I hide our son from him and that I am with other men, which has generated hatred and threats towards me on social media. It’s as if he deliberately creates drama for his fans,” she said.
As evidence, Bailey presented photographs of physical injuries that would include a chipped front tooth and a bruise on the arm, as well as text messages that would evidence the rapper’s abusive behavior. One such message, dated May 11, Mother’s Day, is part of the material submitted to the court.
In addition to the restraining order, Bailey requested temporary custody of her son while she moves to Italy for two months to film a new project from June 7. She indicated that she will have the support of her family and a nanny during that period.
In her legal petition, she also demanded that DDG be required to attend a batterer’s intervention program with the obligation to complete 52 weeks of attendance and provide proof of compliance.
These revelations mark a difficult time for Halle Bailey, who has had to deal with public scrutiny since her rise to fame as a Disney star. Now, in the midst of a new professional chapter, she faces an intense legal battle for the safety and well-being of herself and her child.
