Taylor Swift is facing a crisis that could have serious personal and professional implications if her texts are leaked, as she becomes entangled in a lawsuit involving longtime friend Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni.
The 35-year-old singer has reportedly been subpoenaed by Baldoni’s legal team as part of a $400 million defamation suit against both Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, whom she is close friends with.

The situation is raising the possibility that her private text messages may be introduced as evidence in court as the 41-year-old chases down communications between Lively and Swift, which may include sensitive and previously undisclosed conversations. If admitted into evidence, those texts could become public.
“These texts coming out is Taylor’s worst nightmare,” an insider told TMZ. “She’s public when it comes to her gigs and interacting with fans, but beyond that is fiercely protective of her privacy.

“She is also extremely careful about what she shares among her inner circle, so the thought of her private messages being released is horrifying for her. She’s in an utter panic about how this is going to affect her.
“Really, she’s in a state of disbelief, and overcome with anxiety that this could potentially destroy her career and A-list friendships!”
The matter relates to a lawsuit filed by Lively in December 2024, accusing Baldoni, her It Ends With Us co-star and the film’s director, of sexual harassment and reputational sabotage during the movie’s production.
The Eras Tour star and Gossip Girl actress have maintained a strong public friendship for a decade and have often enjoyed joint vacations, red carpet appearances, and public expressions of mutual support.
The Grammy-winning artist is even godmother to three of Lively’s four children; however, according to those familiar with the matter, their relationship has deteriorated under the weight of the legal battle.
“Taylor had to step back and make a conscious decision to keep contact with her to an absolute minimum,” the source added. “It’s quite likely their friendship will be non-existent once this is all over.
“Taylor tried to be there for Blake, but her patience has worn thin. She’s now feeling deeply hurt and upset, believing she’s been dragged into something she never signed up for.”

The implications of Swift’s potential involvement extend beyond her friendship circle, sources say her relationship with the NFL star, Travis Kelce, has also begun to suffer which is something she will be less than pleased about.
The pair have been dating since August 2023 and have managed to make their love work through tough schedules as Swift managed her Eras Tour performances whilst Kelce competed on field for the Kansas City Chiefs. Can it survive a subpoena?
“Travis is already feeling the heat,” another source said to TMZ. “He even stopped following Ryan on Instagram last week, and the pressure is clearly putting a strain on things between him and Taylor.
“The anxiety over what might surface is creating serious cracks in their relationship – it might even break them apart.”
